  • James Martin founded in 2003 the Institute for Science, Innovation and Society (formerly known as the Institute for Science and Civilization) at the University of Oxford
  • In 2005, he founded the James Martin 21st Century School at the University of Oxford, which encourages researchers to work together in innovative ways to address future challenges
  • He is also a Senior Fellow of the James Martin Center for Non-Proliferation Studies at Monterey, California, the largest nongovernmental organization in the USA devoted exclusively to research and training on nonproliferation issues.
